Katerina Ticacek Nox, nicknamed Mystik, is Caustic's biological mother and Crypto's adoptive mother.
Lore
Background
Katerina Ticacek Nox was born in 2663 on Gaea. At some point, she married Arthur Rutherford Nox, and on February 25, 2685 she gave birth to her son, Alexander. Growing up, Nox spoiled her son, and she claims to have ignored the warning signs of his future dangerous behavior.[1]
In 2723, a fire at Humbert Labs allegedly caused the death of Alexander. Arthur later died from the resulting heartbreak. A distraught Nox would often sit on a bridge in Suotamo, searching for a sign to keep going. She received this sign when a young orphan boy came out from under the bridge and yelled at her that he was trying to sleep. She then adopted this boy, Tae Joon Park. Eventually, she additionally opened an orphanage in Suotamo.[1]
Season 3
After Park was framed as the murderer of his foster sister, he entered the Apex Games under a false identity. During this time, he maintained contact with Nox.[2] She was additionally interviewed regarding his whereabouts.[3]
The Legacy Antigen
In 2734, Nox arrived on Olympus for the unveiling of Pathfinder's statue. Around the same time, the Medusa outbreak was unleashed on the floating city. Nox was one of the patients afflicted with the disease.[4]
While in the hospital, she was visited by Natalie Paquette, who wished to meet the mother of her friends Caustic and Crypto. The two discussed family and the childhoods of Alexander and Tae Joon. However, Nox soon entered cardiac arrest due to failing equipment, but she was saved due to quick action by Paquette.[1]
After the cure for the outbreak was developed, Nox was set to be transferred to a hosptial on Gaea. A doctor approached Alexander and Tae Joon and stated that immediate family was allowed to visit her. While neither men were willing to unveil their true identities, Tae Joon allowed Alexander to visit their mother, enabling a long overdue reunion between the two.[5]

- Mystik immediately saw through Caustic's disguise after he entered the Apex Games.[1]
- She took on the nickname "Mystik" because her last name, Ticacek, was often hard for the children at her orpanage to pronounce. She shortened it to "Ms. Tic", leading to her present name.
