Talk:Crypto

I really don't think we should make this page right now. I mean, we know he exists and is most likely the next legend but there's nothing official yet about him other than those shots at the trailer that the devs can make anytime to NOT be Crypto.

I think with a little cleanup, it could be acceptable. Even if Crypto ends up not being the name, or even if the legend ends up not existing at all, it could be interesting to have a page on it as a fan theory so long as it's made clear that's all it currently is.

True, all of you are right, but he is also data mined. I can’t pull up the pic, but if you look up data mined legends and tap images, you will find crypto. Respawn employees have mentioned crypto. As a her, but mentioned none the less. That and with all the other stuff makes my point reputable. If he does not appear Season 2, then we just call him the repulsor bomber guy-thing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Azzazin (talkcontribs) at 16:46, 17 July 2019‎. Gender

Hey, I have an issue: Crypto is frequently mentioned as a "she" by big name people such as devs and IGN hosts. Now, this is probably an implication towards a Trans gender legend. Now, here is my problem: Crypto isn't really female. Crypto is a trans female. Now, we could include Crypto in the female legends disambig section, or if I'm wrong in the male section, but if I'm not wrong then we could put him in with the female section. I disagree, because Crypto is not female, but trans female. Should we put Crypto in a "Trans" category along with bloodhound?

Which videos? I've watched the latest videos IGN posted about Crypto and all mentions were "him" or "his". Devs have also AFAIK never talked about Crypto or referred to him as anything as the mystery guy or the guy who blew up repulsor.

Like the one that is IGN daily (I think) that goes over all the Gamescon pics. News articles as well from places like Screen Rant

Could you provide a link please? IGN has a lot of videos about Apex Legends. But mind you what they say doesn't mean much until we have something at least kind of official to go off of.

Alright. Forget IGN.
Let’s suppose that Crypto turns out to be trans, what should we do? I propose the reasons I listed above. What does everyone else think?

If characters that do not fit into either male or female are going to be common, it might be better to have an "other" category rather than several categories with one entry each. In that case, I'd say the infobox could be configured such that any gender other than male or female would display as it was input, but categorize as and link to this "other" category.

Joon vs Jun

If anyone is wondering, both are correct in the sense that they are different romanizations of his name in Korean. Its just that Respawn uses "Joon" instead of "Jun".

Crypto's Age

Since someone asked about it elsewhere, here's the situation on Crypto's age:

  • Technically, there is no 100% official straight-from-Apex source saying how old Crypto is.
  • However: Moy Parra, senior animator at Respawn, has a Youtube channel where he makes cute little cartoons about Apex. In one of them, here, he lists Crypto's age as 31.
  • Seeing as he is an important developer, and there is no other source to contradict this, and there is no reason to assume Moy lied about this number, 31 will be considered canon unless disproven.
  • Yes, both Mirage and Gibraltar call him 'kid' in the Season 3 trailer despite both being younger than him. This isn't a plot hole because:
    • 1. It's likely neither of them know Crypto's real age on account of his whole fake identity thing
    • 2. He's the new guy, and they're messing with him a little bit

The 'all seeing eye'

Is Cryptos exclamation "The all seeing eye" upon releasing his drone, a reference to this: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_All-Seeing_Eye ?

Or is it more general ?
