Cosmetics are items that can be acquired to further customize the player's experience. As the name suggests, these items are entirely cosmetic and do not grant any competitive advantage. They can be acquired through the use of various types of currency.

Types of cosmetics

Skins

  • Common skins present a monochromatic tone, with sections featuring different colors;
  • Rare skins present a monochromatic tone, with sections featuring different textures;
  • Epic skins present sections that are dynamic, or a more prominent change of colors and/or textures across the whole skin;[1]
  • Legendary, Iconic and Mythic skins change, either partially or totally, the model of the Legend or the weapon. They may also present dynamic sections similarly to Epic skins along with the model change.

  • Rare Banner Frames present a picture and a more adorned Banner;

  • Mythic Emotes have different variations each time the Emote is performed.

Mythic cosmetics

While most cosmetics items can be found relatively easily, Mythic items are hard to obtain.

Heirloom Shards

Very rarely, after opening certain types of Apex Pack Icon.svg Apex Packs, Heirloom Shards Heirloom Shards may get dropped. These Shards allow the player to acquire a Mythic item of choice through the Mythic Store for Heirloom Shards 150 each. An unlimited amount of Heirloom Shards can be found from Packs as long as the player doesn't currently own all available Mythic items.

Heirlooms

Heirloom Sets are a set of three cosmetic items for a Legend: a Melee Weapon Skin, a Banner Pose, and generally an Intro Quip (the exceptions being Pathfinder's set and Wraith's Hope's Dawn set). The Melee Weapon Skin replaces the typical melee animations with unique ones featuring the Melee Weapon. The Banner Pose is animated, and presents the Legend and their Melee Weapon.

Heirloom Sets may be acquired by purchasing every item from a Collection Event, after which the player is awarded with the newly introduced Set. After the Event ends, the Heirloom Set is added in the Mythic Store and can be purchased anytime, as long as the player has at least Heirloom Shards 150.

Prestige Skins

Prestige Skins are Legend skins that come with a themed Finisher and (with the exception of a few) a Skydive Trail. Prestige Skins possess three different "Tiers": Tier 1 is unlocked instantly, while Tier 2 and Tier 3 require the player to deal 30,000 and 100,000 damage respectively with the Legend to unlock.

Prestige Skins may be acquired by purchasing every item from a Thematic or Collection Event, after which the player is awarded with the newly introduced Skin. After the Event ends, the Prestige Skin set is added in the Mythic Store and can be purchased anytime for Heirloom Shards 150.
