Each Legend has three abilities: one Passive, one Tactical, and one Ultimate.
Passive Abilities
Passive abilities do not have cooldowns, and are either always active or can be activated at will. Some Passives may be disabled by Seer's Focus of Attention.

Tactical Abilities
Tactical abilities are used a lot more compared to Ultimate abilities, as they have a shorter cooldown, and they can be activated by pressing Q/

by default.
Some Tactical abilities have multiple charges. Some Tactical abilities may also be left-handed actions, meaning they can be performed at the same time as firing a weapon, healing, or aiming a grenade.

Ultimate Abilities
Ultimate abilities are generally the strongest in a Legend's arsenal and therefore have longer cooldowns, and they can be activated by pressing Z/

An Ultimate ability's cooldown can be reduced with Ultimate Accelerants or a Charge Tower, although the reduction is only applied once and not permanently. When fully charged, the Ultimate icon becomes colored, the color varying depending on the Legend.

Unlisted Abilities
The following are part of a Legend's kit, but they are not officially listed.
- When her
Void Passage is placed on the underside of a horizontal surface, a "void rope" extends down to the ground, which can be interacted with to enter the portal from below.
Arc Snare deals double damage (20) to shields.
- In game modes not based on
Battle Royale, when a teammate gets killed,
Marked for Death immediately pings the killer. For game modes like
Control, the ping is only visible within the trio Ash was matched with, rather than the whole team.
- Catalyst is immune to all Ferrofluid effects, regardless of it being deployed by herself or an enemy Catalyst.
- Caustic is immune to all Nox Gas effects, regardless of it being deployed by himself or an enemy Caustic.
- If Crypto uses his
Surveillance Drone to look at banner screens, he can see the number of enemy squads within a 200 meters radius from himself. Crypto can then ping the banners to warn his teammates.
- The Drone can open and close Doors, open Supply Bins, and open Care Packages. It can also open locked Vaults if Crypto has a
Vault Key.
- Crypto automatically reloads his weapons while he is in drone view.
The Motherlode allows Fuse to zoom (3×). It also highlights enemies within the ring of fire, even when inside a building or behind cover.
Dome of Protection reduces the time for Gibraltar to revive teammates by 25%.
- Loba can also see Mythic items with
Eye for Quality.
- Loba starts matches with her first Ultimate charged by 50%, and and
Ultimate Accelerants reduces Ultimate cooldown by 25% rather than 35%.
Black Market Boutique allows ammo to be acquired by everyone without consuming any of the Market slots.
- Loba can steal one item with
Black Market Boutique from Vaults or Big Maude's Vend-It Machines, but doing so destroys the Ultimate and sounds an alarm. The exploding Ultimate will deal 10 damage to everyone too close to it.
- Mirage can deploy decoys of himself and his teammates while skydiving. This can be done up to 2 times per skydive.
- If Mirage gets knocked out, he cloaks for 5 seconds. A decoy will appear pretending to die.
- After Mirage revives a teammate, both will remain cloaked for 3 seconds or until they draw their weapon.
- Enemies that hit a decoy will be tracked by a marker for 3.5 seconds.
Knockdown Shields have less health when used for
Retrieve the Wounded.
- For the first minute,
Castle Wall becomes energized and damages and stuns enemies that touch or climb over the front.
Launch Pad launches players further but lower if they crouch walk or slide into it.
Grappling Hook can pull enemies towards Pathfinder.
- Revealing a Care Package's most valuable item with the
Skirmisher Perk charges 50% of his
Zipline Gun.
- One Ultimate charge gives Rampart 43 shots for her Ultimate, amounting to 173 shots at full Ultimate.[1]
Heart Seeker's range is actually doubled (150 meters), but only when Seer has line-of-sight to the enemy. However, the indicator marks enemies in blue (as opposed to orange) and gives a less accurate position when beyond the 75 meters range.
- Heartbeats become faster the lower the opponent's health is.
Focus of Attention also reveals enemy health bars.
- Valkyrie scans enemies while skydiving. The Champion (CH) and Kill Leader (KL) are marked.
- One Ultimate charge gives Vantage 1 shot for her Ultimate, amounting to 6 shots at full Ultimate.
- Rather than 35% charge for one shot, an
Ultimate Accelerant gives Vantage the equivalent of 2 shots.
- Wattson can use enemy nodes to build her
Perimeter Security fences.
- While Wraith is setting up
Dimensional Rift, the activation time for
Into the Void becomes 0.4 seconds. Her movement speed also increases the greater the horizontal distance between her and the initial portal.

Modded Loader gives a 15% magazine size increase. Due to how rounded values work in Apex Legends, this is why Rampart gets 173 shots instead of 172 at full Ultimate:
- One Ultimate charge would give 37.5 shots, but because it's Rampart, these become 43.125 shots.
- A full Ultimate means 4 charges. Multiplying 43.125 by 4, the result is 172.5.
- Then, the rounding is executed. 172.5 finally becomes 173.
