The Knockdown Shield is a gear item which can be equipped to grant a protective shield while downed. It can be acquired in multiple rarities: Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3. Legends are granted Level 1 automatically.

At its highest rarity, it also provided the [Guardian Angel] perk to its owner. This granted 50 health and 50 shield to squadmates the Knockdown Shield's owner revived (in addition to the 20 health they receive by default). Revives done using this perk were indicated by a crackling effect surrounding them. This rarity was removed as it was deemed too powerful in conjunction with the Support Class.

Protection

While downed, the shield can be activated by holding ///, the same button that fires weapons. Doing this will reduce crawling speed by 45%. The shield only protects the front of a downed player; they can still be harmed from behind or the sides. Once the shield's health is depleted, it will remain destroyed until the next time the player is downed.

• Gold Backpack: Players being revived by a gold backpack will have a crackle of energy—based on the tier of armor they wear—while the revive is taking place. They will also display the armor heal FX when the revive is finished.
