Map Features (also called map mechanics or map extensions) are recurring structures found on maps which players can interact with in some way. Some features provide loot or other resources, some provide mobility options or restrict enemy movement, and some are obstacles to be avoided.
Recurring Map Features
These are map features that can be found in multiple places on the available maps. While not all have these features, map features listed here appear on at least two of the maps.
Use of 1 indicates that the feature is only found at one POI. Use of R indicates that the feature has been removed.

Hazards
These features provide no benefit and only exist as obstacles.
- The Ring - Found on every Battle Royale and Arenas map, the Ring shrinks in stages throughout the match to reduce the total playable area. Players outside the Ring take constant damage, increasing in later rounds.
- Cliffs - Players that fall off of cliffs die instantly at a certain depth. Their Death Box will be placed on the nearest available ledge.
- Out-of-bounds areas - The tops of high mountains and structures are deemed out-of-bounds. While out of bounds, players are unable to use weapons, abilities, or items, and will die instantly after 15 seconds.
- Water - Shallow pools of water exist on most maps. Players wading through them take a 4.7% movement speed penalty.
- Lava - Found on World's Edge and Overflow, standing on lava deals 16 damage/second to players.
