The Nemesis Burst AR, or Nemesis, is an assault rifle introduced in Season 16.svg Season 16 that utilizes Energy Ammo.svg Energy Ammo. It fires in a 4-round burst but, unlike other burst weapons, the Nemesis keeps firing as long as the trigger is held, rather than being required to pull the trigger every time.

The Nemesis has an energy meter which fills up as the weapon is fired; the fire rate of the weapon will increase relative to the charge. Each burst fired will add 16.5% charge whether or not any targets are hit. After 5 seconds without being fired, charge decreases by 15% per second.[1]

Lore

The Nemesis was created by the weapons mod group known as The Sisters, who previously helped Rampart learn the tricks of the trade. However, when Rampart left their group and began growing more successful than them, they burned down Rampart's shop. Rampart suspected her prototype of the Nemesis was lost in the fire. Unbeknownst to her, The Sisters had stolen it, and decided to release it as their own.

The Nemesis Burst AR was originally designed by Rampart during her time with The Sisters, the gang led by Big Sister.[3] Its prototype was stolen during an attack on Rampart's shop, and it was later released by the Sisters as their first product as a licensed business.[4]

Skins

There are 54 skins for the Nemesis Burst AR: 13 Legendary, 8 Epic, 18 Rare, and 15 Common.

Datamined and Leaked Data

The Nemesis got initially leaked in both the Evolution.svg Evolution Collection Event trailer and the patch notes for the September 14, 2021 Patch, appearing in the list of purchasable Arenas.svg Arenas weapons using the R-301 Carbine icon as a placeholder[5]. It has been confirmed by a developer[6] that this leak was accidental, and that the weapon is "not releasing anytime soon".

The Nemesis Burst AR reappeared in another leak still using the R-301 as placeholder, this time without being compatible with Standard Stock.svg Standard Stocks, and using the Auto Icon.svg Auto fire mode, even though the latter seems to be a placeholder icon. The Nemesis also appeared with a charge bar, similar to the Sentinel and Rampage LMG, although its effects were unknown at the time, but it was known that it could be charged by simply firing the weapon.

On March 22, 2022, the Nemesis reappears once again, this time with a unique model and icon. Some of its stats were also shown, as well as being once again compatible with Standard Stock.svg Standard Stocks.

Trivia

  • The Nemesis bears a striking resemblance to the Splitter Rifle used by Ion-class Titans in Titanfall 2.
  • The name for the Nemesis' Twisted Transistor skin is a reference to a song of the same name by the nu metal band Korn from their 2005 album See You on the Other Side.
